How to prepare a scenario: (Please note a sample scenario is provided below)
You will need to prepare 2 scenarios following the guidelines below. The scenarios will depict an interview with an Indigenous client(s) in person or over the phone, or a meeting with an Indigenous community/group. The scenarios reflect your FAHCSIA area of work.
The client(s) (or some of the clients in the case of a meeting) has difficulty with English and you will need an interpreter.
In writing the scenario you will need to provide the following:
Your scenarios will be given to the aboriginal “Client” (role player) so that they may be able to prepare to act them in language and allow you to work through an interpreter.
Each scenario should provide information for a role play of about 10 minutes. During this role play you will be the English speaker (in your usual workplace role), and you will be working with an aboriginal client and an interpreter.
Please list any documents/forms/images/diagrams which will be needed, scan and attach to your scenario and also bring them to the workshop so that they can be part of the interview.
See the sample scenario below. For details of assessment refer to the Learner's Guide
